CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) interim general secretary and Ex-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has filed a counter affidavit in the Madras High Court in the case filed by party MLA P.H. Pandian against the General Council meeting held on July 11, 2022.

The case is being pronounced by the Madras High Court on Friday (March 17). In his plea to the court, Pandian sought an injunction to prevent EPS from acting as the party's interim general secretary.

A resolution to eliminate the coordinator and joint coordinator positions and establish the position of interim general secretary was approved by the AIADMK general council meeting held in July 2022. Before the main lawsuit is resolved, the legislator asked the court to step in and protect the status quo.

EPS stated in the reply affidavit, "As opposed to what the petitioner, P.H. Manoj Pandian, claims, the AIADMK is represented by its interim general secretary and not by the coordinator or joint coordinator. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the fourth respondent, is not the AIADMK's joint coordinator as was incorrectly stated in the petition, but rather the party's interim general secretary.

Manoj Pandian, the petitioner, is not even a part of the AIADMK, and his assertions are false." PH Manoj Pandian's attendance at the party headquarters on July 11, 2022, was described by him as "trespass" by the Madras High Court, he added. The High Court noted that it was dishonest and misleading for the petitioner, Manoj Pandian, to use the party headquarters address as his address, said EPS in the counter affidavit.

In the affidavit, EPS stated: "The reliefs requested in the application are no longer necessary. Only the reliefs that are harming the applicant personally may be maintained. The applicant is ineligible for any redress since they misrepresented the facts and withheld important information. A tiny minority cannot override the will of the majority." In his affidavit, the former chief minister also asked the court to strike down P.H. Manoj Pandian's plea with a fine.
