Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)  party executive committee will meet on December 1 at the party headquarters, where it is expected to make crucial organisational decisions, such as appointing a new Chairman for the party praesidium. The conference is also expected to deliberate whether or not the number of steering committee members should be increased from 11 to 18, as certain leaders have requested.

Several officials spoke out during the AIADMK district secretary-level meeting on Wednesday, criticising the current leadership of soft-pedalling key topics and failing to act as a constructive opposition. However, O. Panneerselvam, the party's Chief Coordinator, and K. Palaniswami, the party's Chief Coordinator, claimed they were consulting each other before making any major decisions affecting the party and the people of the state.

Several district secretaries urged that the steering committee's membership be increased from 11 to 18, arguing that this would result in a more collaborative approach to critical political choices. K.A. Sengottayan, a former minister and prominent AIADMK leader, was the first to demand that the number of steering committee members be increased.
