The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) cannot accept any application for new BTech institutes by the year 2022. For your information let us tell you, in the year 2019-20, the trend of students was found less towards engineering, due to which the decision is being taken by AICTE.

According to the data-

Apart from this, according to the data, 50 percent of engineering seats remain vacant. In the year 2019-20, there are 14 lakh graduates for engineering, 11 lakh diplomas and 1.8 lakh seats for post graduates, i.e. 27 lakh seats are fixed. But statistics show that a total of 13 lakh students, including seven lakh graduation students, have taken admission, i.e. 15 lakh seats remain vacant. AICTE has also issued a notice related to this, according to which the Council will not approve the Diploma / Graduate in Engineering and Technology and the new Institute of Post Graduates.

For your information, let us tell you that in the year 2019, campus placement of only 6 lakh graduate students has been done. Apart from this, a total of 518 engineering colleges have been closed between 2015 and 2019 due to the falling number of students. If a college wants to start a new course then it can be approved.
