Lucknow: Asim Waqar, leader of The Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Musalmeen (AIMIM), says the post of deputy CM in all states should be completely reserved for Muslims. He has also asked the SP, BSP and Congress to clarify their views on the issue. AIMIM leader says political parties ask Muslims for votes, but when there is a demand for the post of deputy CM.

When asked that if AIMIM alliance partner Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha would agree to this, Waqar said that Om Prakash Rajbhar wouldn’t say no to his. He said all political parties will have to give deputy CM posts to Muslims late in the day. Reacting to Waqar's statement, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said Asaduddin Owaisi should know that such communal statements benefit the BJP. Alvi further said, 'If you are really a well wisher of the Muslim community, please keep yourself away from the up politics.'

On the other hand, the SP said that if one has the ability to lead his community, he should be given a chance to lead, whether it is from the minority or dalit community. Accusing Waqar of fooling the Muslim community, AAP spokesperson Vaibhav Maheshwari said the elected government should focus on their issues, educate them, remove poverty and unemployment. He further said, "Talking only of deputy CM, if you are trying to be a representative of the entire community, you are fooling him."
