Mumbai: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, engaged in campaigning for Maharashtra assembly elections 2019, on Monday demanded reservation for Muslim society. Owaisi, who arrived in Bhiwandi in Thane district to seek votes for his party's candidate, fiercely attacked former Congress president Rahul Gandhi in his speech. Owaisi said that Rahul Gandhi is the captain who has escaped leaving the sinking ship named Congress.

Owaisi further said, 'When the ship is sinking in the middle of the sea, the captain of the ship takes out the people sitting in it safely. But Rahul Gandhi is the captain who is running to see the Congress sinking. Owaisi further said, 'In this country, the Muslim Congress is not alive at the grace of 70 years. Rather we are alive by the Constitution and the will of Allah.'

Owaisi also attacked the Modi government at the Center and said, "If PM Modi thinks that he has justice with Muslim women by bringing triple divorce bill, then it is a wrong notion." Owaisi said that 'If PM Modi truly wants justice with the Muslims, then on behalf of the Muslims of Maharashtra, I pray to him to give reservation to them (Muslim society) like the Marathas'.
