Air India considers China's demand, Taiwan name changed to Chinese Taipei

Now Taiwan will not be seen on the Air India website. Bowing ahead of China 's demand, Air India has decided to name the Taiwanese Chinese Taipei on its website. In fact, in April, China's Civil Aviation Administration had written a letter to 36 airlines to recognize Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong on their website as part of China.

It is believed that India has taken this step to improve its relations with China. It is worth mentioning that in April when China had written a letter to 36 E-mails to respect the principle of 'One China', it had certainly conveyed to some airlines such as Air Canada and Lufthansa, but airlines from the US and several other countries including Air India had not done this. It is believed that Air India will have taken this step only after discussions with the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Chinese authorities give the time till 25 July to change the name. The letter also spoke of taking action against the airlines if they did not take action according to the letter. China considers Taiwan as its share, although Taiwan has its own separate government since 1949. China does not accept Taiwan's independence, so they have instructed international organizations to consider Taiwan as part of China. This is the reason that Taiwanese name Chinese Taipei is used by international organizations.
