NEW DELHI: Air India, now owned by the Tata Group, has introduced a new way to enhance your travel experience: Air India Gift Cards. Available in denominations from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 200,000, these e-gift cards can be purchased online and used for a variety of travel-related expenses. According to the airline, these cards can be used to book domestic and international flights, as well as for extra services like additional baggage and seat selection.

The gift cards offer recipients the flexibility to choose their travel destination, dates, and cabin class. Air India states that this initiative is part of their strategy to provide more customer-centric services and expand their digital offerings, appealing to a broad audience.

How to Purchase Air India Gift Cards

Air India Gift Cards can be bought at giftcards.airindia.com and come in four themes: Travel, Wedding Anniversary, Birthday, and Special Moments. They can be personalized to fit the occasion and the recipient's travel needs.

Transferability and Usage

These gift cards are transferable, meaning recipients can book flights for others. Up to three gift cards can be used in a single transaction, and they can be combined with a credit card to cover any remaining balance. The cards offer the flexibility to be used for a single trip or spread across multiple bookings.

Tata Group's Revitalization Efforts

Since taking control of Air India on January 27, 2022, the Tata Group has focused on revitalizing the airline. In their first year, they revived grounded aircraft and recruited new talent. In the second year, Air India made significant strides, including a landmark order for 470 new aircraft in June and the introduction of a new brand identity in August. The airline also secured a distribution deal with Sabre to regain US corporate clients. The Tata Group's acquisition deal, valued at Rs. 18,000 crore, allocated 15% of the total to the government, with the rest used to clear Air India's debt.
