NEW DELHI: Air India announced on Wednesday that the launch of new flights connecting Mumbai with New York, Paris, and Frankfurt, as well as the restart of non-stop flights connecting Delhi with Copenhagen, Milan, and Vienna, would reinforce and expand its worldwide footprint.

This growth comes as the airline keeps making strides toward growing its fleet by adding recently leased aircraft and putting back in service older aircraft.

Beginning on February 14, 2023, a new daily Mumbai-New York route will fly B777-200LR aircraft to John F. Kennedy International Airport. It will add Air India's current four weekly flights to Newark Liberty airport and daily service from Delhi to John F. Kennedy International Airport in the New York location. This takes Air India's India-US frequency to 47 non-stop flights per week.

From February 1, 2023, Air India will introduce four weekly flights between Delhi and Milan, as well as three weekly flights between Delhi and Vienna and Copenhagen, starting on February 18 and March 1, 2023, respectively. Air India's B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which has 18 Business Class seats and 238 Economy Class seats, will fly all of these routes.

After these flights resume, Air India will offer 79 weekly non-stop flights to seven locations throughout Europe, including 48 flights to the United Kingdom and 31 to continental Europe.

Commenting on this development, Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India said, "A key element of our 5-year transformation plan, Vihaan.AI, is to boost India's global network, connecting India's major cities with even more destinations. These additional nonstop routes to New York, Milan, Vienna, Copenhagen, Paris, and Frankfurt mark another step in that process, which will quicken as our fleet of aircraft grows. We eagerly anticipate receiving visitors and extending to them the gracious Indian hospitality of Air India."
