New Delhi: Air India is currently facing serious economic challenges. The company also has no money left to deposit TDS and Provident Fund (EPF) of employees. According to sources, Air India has defaulted in payment of TDS and PF. The central government has already said that this company will be sold or will be closed. There is no other option. The government is also trying its best to sell it, but it has not been successful.

Air India has rejected the default in payment of TDS but did not say anything in the case of PF. The company said that "Air India has already deposited TDS. The distribution of Form is underway. Government officials say this is different from this. According to an official, 'Air India has not paid TDS and PF since January. The company has a TDS balance of Rs 23 crore till the end of March. Also, PF is due in crores".

On the issue of PF, an Air India spokesperson said that the company does not want to make any further statement in this regard. Working and retired employees are being affected by Air India not paying PF and TDS. On July 12, media reports claim that the Civil Aviation Ministry has refused to provide further equity support to Air India.
