Air India has announced the commencement of non-stop services between Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport and London Gatwick (LGW), starting from August 18 this year. This new route marks Bengaluru as the fifth Indian city to be connected to the UK's second-largest airport, further expanding Air India's network.

According to an official press release by Air India, the airline will operate flights 5 times a week between Bengaluru and London Gatwick, bringing the total number of flights to and from London Gatwick to 17 per week. The flights will be operated using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 18 flat beds in Business class and 238 spacious seats in Economy class.

"This new route aims to meet the increasing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations," said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India. He emphasized that this launch underscores Air India's commitment to expanding its global network and enhancing connectivity.

Currently, Air India connects four other Indian cities to London Gatwick: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi. Additionally, the airline operates 31 flights per week to London Heathrow and 6 flights per week to and from Birmingham.

The new Bengaluru-London Gatwick route is expected to strengthen economic and cultural ties between India and the UK, offering convenient travel options for passengers. This initiative is part of Air India's strategy to cater to the growing demand for international travel, especially amidst the post-pandemic recovery phase.
