Air India woman pilot’s equanimity today spared lives of over 250 passengers mid-air. Two flights, Air India's and Vistara's escaped colliding mid-air when they were at a close distance of 100 feets. The flights were bound to Bhopal and Pune respectively.

The Vistara flight was spotted by the alert woman pilot Anupama Kohli commanding the Air India flight. She quickly climbed up and steered away from in a different direction escaping the mishap and gifting life to the passengers onboard both the planes. The aircrafts were barely seconds away from colliding, said a source.

The reasons for the event can be a probable miscommunication between the Air Traffic Controller and the Vistara flight pilot, which too had a woman pilot during the event while the Captain was in the toilet. The air traffic controllers had some confusion while navigating the two flights and are now suspended from duty.

This was followed by an investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The two Air India pilots were proved to be not at fault and were cleared for further flying. The reports claimed that the descending to 27100 feets, around 2000 below from their assigned height. A source from Vistara defended and said that their flight followed the Standard Operating Procedure to avoid an uneventful landing.

The incident is being investigated currently.
