Air traffic in South Korea rose by 10.8% in 2021

Data from the Ministry of Land reveals, South Korea's air traffic increased 10.8% last year due to increased internal flights, while foreign travel continued to suffer because to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Infrastructure, and Transport, over 465,000 domestic and international flights travelled over South Korea last year. In recent years, air traffic in the nation has progressively climbed from roughly 739,000 in 2016 to 842,000 in 2019, before plummeting to around 421,000 in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Despite concerns about new Covid-19 variants, the number of overseas flights increased just slightly to 203,029 last year, up 1.8 percent from the previous year. According to the Ministry, domestic aviation traffic increased 18.9% year on year to 262,440 flights as more people travelled within the country despite signs of a slowdown in the pandemic last year.

With an average of 455 flights per day last year, Jeju International Airport was the busiest airport in South Korea, followed by Gimpo International Airport and Incheon International Airport.
