NEW DELHI: Delhi's Patiala House Court on Tuesday continued hearing the anticipatory bail plea of former finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram in links with the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case.

Delhi's Patiala House Court in its verdict extended interim protection granted to P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram till August 7.

Worth mention here the former finance minister was given protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate till July 10 by the Court.

Chidambaram had appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team in the case earlier.

It is noted that the Aircel-Maxis deal case, which emerged out of 2G spectrum cases, involves to a grant by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to firm M/S Global Communication Holding Services Ltd for investment in Aircel.

The ED had earlier stated that the FIPB approval granted in 2006 by Chidambaram was beyond his mandate as he was only authorized to confer the approval on project proposals up to Rs 600 crore.

On a related note P. Chidambaram's son Karti was arrested on February 28 at the Chennai airport upon his arrival from the United Kingdom, for his alleged role in the case. At present, Karti is on bail too.
