Airports Authority, Gujarat Govt Sign MoU for State Airport Development

NEW DELHI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the government of Gujarat have officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to spearhead the development of multiple airports within the state. The signing ceremony took place in Gandhinagar, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday.

As outlined by AAI, this collaborative agreement aims to bolster tourism and business prospects within Gujarat. Enhancing airport infrastructure is deemed crucial for augmenting connectivity and fostering economic growth as part of 'The Vibrant Gujarat 2024' initiative.

The MoU was executed by NV Subbarayudu, Executive Director (SIU) representing AAI, and Parulben Mansata, CEO of Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL). The exchange of the MoU transpired between Raj Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Government of Gujarat, and Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman of AAI. Noteworthy government officials from Gujarat also graced the event.

Under the terms, the Gujarat government pledges to allocate necessary land for airport expansion and development. AAI will take charge of developing identified airports in phases, contingent upon techno-economic feasibility.
