Despite the UN's demand for peace and warnings from Israeli leaders to conduct an aggressive counter-investigation, rockets were fired again from the Gaza Strip to Israel on Saturday. It has been revealed that violent clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians with right-wing Jewish groups are adding to tensions in Jerusalem. Violence on this scale has taken place across the border between Israel and Gaza over several months.

The army said the militants fired rockets towards the town of Sderot in southern Israel which was intercepted by air security forces. According to reports, militants fired about 36 rockets towards Israel in the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, while Israeli forces also hit targets operated by the ruling Hamas group. The rockets were fired when hundreds of Palestinians clashed with Israeli police in East Jerusalem. At least four policemen and six protesters were injured in the clashes. These clashes are taking place almost every day in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan and there is no sign of their stay.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said he has held discussions with top security officials on Gaza and Jerusalem. The PM said he issued instructions to the authorities to be prepared for every situation being created in Gaza. On Jerusalem, he said "Israel would give everyone freedom of worship and requested peace. It has been learned that UN envoy to the area Ton Wenesland condemned the violence and said the UN is working with all sides to maintain peace".
