Airtel Accelerates 5G Revolution to Meet Surging Demand: Bharti Airtel announced on Monday that it has initiated the re-farming of its existing mid-band spectrum to handle the rapidly growing traffic on its 5G network. As more customers switch to 5G, Airtel is reallocating spectrum across the 1800, 2100, and 2300 MHz bands nationwide to enhance its 5G services.

Enhanced Browsing and Indoor Coverage

The primary goal of re-farming the mid-band spectrum is to provide customers with faster browsing speeds and better indoor coverage. With the increasing demand for data, Airtel is expediting its spectrum re-farming efforts to ensure an exceptional 5G experience for its users.

Successful Pilot Projects

Airtel has successfully piloted the switch between standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes on its 5G network in select areas, including Rewari, Chennai, and Bhubaneswar, yielding positive results. This capability will allow Airtel to introduce innovative applications, services, and solutions through open APIs, differentiated connectivity, and a service-based architecture.

Collaboration with Smartphone Manufacturers

In partnership with smartphone Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Airtel will implement NSA and SA combined binaries with carrier aggregation functionality to further enhance the 5G experience.

Rapid 5G Rollout

Over the past year, Airtel has demonstrated the potential of 5G with numerous use cases that have revolutionized customer lifestyles and business operations. Airtel's 5G rollout has been one of the fastest in the country, now covering all 28 states and 8 union territories.
