Reason for the Hike

Airtel states that the increase in tariffs is necessary to ensure a financially healthy business model for telecom companies in India. The company believes that an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 300 is essential for substantial investments in network technology and spectrum, and to provide a modest return on capital.

An Airtel official mentioned, "We believe that this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investments required in network technology and spectrum and offer a modest return on capital. In this light, we welcome the announcements in the industry to repair tariffs."

Impact on Consumers
Airtel assures that the price hike is modest, averaging less than 70 paise per day on entry-level plans, to minimize the financial impact on budget-conscious consumers.

Effective Date
The revised tariffs will be applicable from July 3rd, 2024.
