Airtel Payments Bank CEO and MD Shashi Arora resigned from the post on Friday on charges of misusing the Aadhaar number. In his statement, UIDAI, without mentioning the suspension of Airtel's e-KYC facility by UIDAI, said that UIDAI has started this facility partially. Indeed, through E-KYC, the company has the advantage of using the basis to confirm the identity of the customer.

It was reported that at the time of mobile verification using Aadhaar e-KYC, the Airtel retailers were also opening Airtel Payments Bank accounts without "informed consent" of the customers. Even LPG subsidy by the government was also getting transferred to these Airtel Payments Bank accounts, without the knowledge of the customers.

The company statement said, "Shashi has been associated with Arora Company in the role of leadership since 2006. He was very important for Airtel and he has made a significant contribution to the development of the company, he has strengthened the company's DTH business. Done and laid the foundation stone of the Airtel Payment Bank. Now Shashi has decided to leave the company and go ahead on opportunities outside. We give him best wishes. "

The company has not yet announced the name of Arora's successor. It is worth mentioning that recently, the issuing agency UIDAI had temporarily suspended their e-KYC license while taking strong action against Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank. It was a matter of UIDAI's attention that Airtel retailers were opening bank accounts without the consent of the customers.
