New restrictions to be announced today as corona seems to be uncontrollable

New Delhi: The Union Home Secretary is scheduled to hold a review meeting today amid cases of corona infection surging at double the pace of daily in the country. It is being reported that some additional restrictions may be considered in view of the speed of corona. In many states, the situation is getting very scary. Maharashtra and Delhi are badly affected by corona infection and there is also the highest number of cases of Omicron variants.

Media reports quoted sources as saying that Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will hold a review meeting on the rising corona cases today i.e. More than 90,000 new corona cases have been registered in the country on Thursday as well, more than 56 per cent from the previous day. However, it is a matter of relief that even in the midst of the great explosion of corona cases, the number of deaths due to infection remained less than 400.

At the same time, cases of Omicron variants are also increasing rapidly in the country. According to data released on Thursday, a total of 2,630 cases of corona Omicron variants have been reported in the country. Out of these, 995 patients have recovered so far. The variant has spread to 26 States and Union Territories of India. Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of 797 cases while the capital Delhi is second with 465 cases of omicron vaiant.
