Ajith's Viswasam has recived the rave reviews from the audience and has successfully entered its fifth week and is still running riots giving tough competition to new releases. Despite clash the mighty Rajinikanth’s Petta at the box office, film managed to do a great business at the box-office. Viswasam has now become the third highest grossing movie of all time at the Tamil Nadu box office beating Vijay starrer Mersal.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted, "#Thala #Ajith 's #Viswasam has surpassed #Mersal 's Lifetime gross in TN.. #ViswasamATBBInTN". Viswasam now only trails behind Prabhas starrer Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer Robot sequel 2.0. Viswasam has collected more than Rs 180 crore at the worldwide box office and is expected to end its run by hitting a double century. It has grossed around Rs 133.53 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office so far with a record-breaking Rs 12.98 crore at the Chennai city box office.
