Noted director of Malayalam cinema Vignesh Shivan announced that he would produce Nayantara's upcoming film, which could be titled 'Netrikain'. Also known as another female-centric thriller, the film went on floors in September last year, and the latest addition to the cast is actor Ajmal Aamir. Also, in an interview, this news was confirmed by the actor himself. While there he said, "Netrican revolves around two decisive characters. Although Nayantara plays one role, I play the other role. Along with this, the film is considered to be the official remake of the 2011 Korean thriller 'Blind'. The film directed by Milan Rau will portray the story of two characters played by Nayantara and Ajmal. Nayantara plays the role of a cadet in a police academy who loses her eyesight after a car accident, along with a dog in an important role in the film.

Ajmal is known for her performances in films like 'Anjathe' and 'Ko'. While last seen in AL Vijay's 'Devi 2', Ajmal is also a part of the Malayalam horror thriller titled 'Xanam', featuring Anu Sonara, sister of Anu Sithara in the female director. Along with this, Nayanthara may next appear in the devotional film 'Mukuti Amman'. She is also shooting for Rajinikanth's Annathe, which is being directed by Saruthai Siva.
