Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav has been elected as the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP) for the third consecutive time at its national convention. His unopposed election was announced by the national general secretary and returning officer Ram Gopal Yadav. Ram Gopal has said that 75 leaders including Mata Prasad Pandey, and Alam Badi stamped Akhilesh's name. There was only one nomination for this post, so Akhilesh Yadav was elected president unopposed. Akhilesh touched Jaya Bachchan's feet as soon as he became president for the third time.

Akhilesh Yadav said that this is not just a post but a very big responsibility. Democracy is in danger at the moment. Socialists have to create history in the coming 5 years. Together, we should spread SP to other states and form a national party. Akhilesh said that we will run the membership drive on a more extensive level. We will move forward with Lohiaites and Ambedkar litigants. Akhilesh alleged that the experts of history know that there used to be propaganda ministers in a country, but here the entire BJP is running with the help of propaganda.

Earlier on Wednesday, Naresh Uttam was re-elected as the state unit president in the SP's state convention on Tuesday. He has become the state president for the third time. Congratulating Naresh Uttam, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that under his leadership, the SP movement will move forward. At the same time, the party will move forward by becoming more powerful.
