Uttar Pradesh: Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and a leader of the Samajwadi Party, has requested that 'Lakhimpur Kisan Memorial Day' be observed on the third day of every month to remind people of the Bharatiya Janata Party's brutality (BJP).

"This is an appeal to all residents of Uttar Pradesh, well-wishers of farmers, SP and other allied parties to observe 'Lakhimpur Kisan Memorial Day' on the 3rd of every month from now on to remind people of the BJP's brutality," Yadav wrote in a tweet.

In the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in Uttar Pradesh on October 3, eight people were killed, including four farmers. Farmers in the area blame the violence on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra 'Teni' and his son. They were allegedly mowed down in Lakhimpur Kheri by a vehicle that was part of the Minister's convoy. MoS Teni, on the other hand, has denied the allegations, claiming that his son was not present at the incident. So far, three people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh, including Ashish Mishra.
