Akhilesh Yadav launches party membership drive

LUCKNOW: Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party, began the recruitment drive on Tuesday. The Samajwadi Party president shared before media that SP party members would recruit in the rural regions and propagate the party's policies and programmes.

Yadav said that the party's membership drive would take place in other states where the party has a unit. The membership push is considered a prelude to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Rampur and Azamgarh, two Lok Sabha seats that were regarded as the party's strongholds, were recently lost in elections.

"The membership drive will be led by our party's leaders and candidates. I will visit communities as well. We must broaden our support and preserve democracy "he said.

In response to a query, Akhilesh stated that he did not run for office in the byelections because he had received assurances from his party officials that they would win the seats with ease.  We were unaware that the administration would exert such influence and obstruct voters from exercising their right to vote, he said.

He stated that after the membership campaign is over, the party units would be reorganised.  All party organisations, including executive bodies, wings, and frontal organisations, have lately been disbanded by the SP president.

Akhilesh responded to a different issue by stating that the Yogi Adityanath government should talk about its work in the past five years and 100 days.
