Lucknow: In the face of escalating dissidence and internal disagreements over seat allocations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav revealed that he has not received an invitation to join the ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. The Yatra, aimed at uniting the INDIA Opposition bloc, is currently traversing through Jharkhand and is set to move further west before concluding in Mumbai.

As the Congress attempts to consolidate the opposition front, the return of key ally Janata Dal (United) to the BJP-led NDA has strained the alliance. Notably, the Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have already rejected the idea of aligning with the Congress in West Bengal and Punjab for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Responding to inquiries about his potential participation in the Nyay Yatra when it enters Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav stated on Saturday, "Many big events are organized for which we don't receive invitations. Why should we ask for an invitation?" Currently, the Yatra, which has covered five states primarily by bus, is stationed in Jharkhand, which is still grappling with the political upheaval resulting from a change of leadership.

Hemant Soren, who faced multiple ED summonses related to an alleged land scam, resigned as the Jharkhand Chief Minister and was subsequently arrested by the central agency. This led to a change in leadership, with seven-time MLA and senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Champai Soren taking oath as CM. The Yatra is slated to enter Uttar Pradesh on February 14.

Earlier on Sunday, the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' reached Dhanbad in Jharkhand. Speaking at a public gathering during the rally, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the Congress's fight was against the 'hatred' within the BJP. The Yatra, covering over 6,700 kilometers in 67 days, traverses through 110 districts, spanning 100 Lok Sabha constituencies and 337 assembly segments, concluding in Mumbai on March 20. Following the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra,' where Rahul Gandhi covered over 3,000 kilometers on foot from Kanya Kumari to Srinagar, the Yatra 2.0 adopts a hybrid format.
