Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh CM and SP president Akhilesh Yadav has recently hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government in the state. Recently, Akhilesh Yadav said, "The plight of farmers has not happened in the last fifty years as it has been in the four and a half years of the BJP government". At the same time, he said, "A farce has been hatched to cheat farmers by extending the date of procurement of wheat. The farmer has not received the price of the crop nor the compensation. The price rise from above has broken his back. The Government should issue a White Paper so that the truth about procurement of wheat from farmers can be revealed".
He also said, "The date of wheat procurement in the papers has been announced while in reality the procurement is stopped. The Government Procurement Portal is not working. While the wheat kept in the farmer's barn is getting spoiled due to wetting, in some of the procurement centres, the wheat lying in the open is rotting. There is silence at all the shopping centres during the rainy season. The farmer is depressed". At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav also said, "Farmers are wandering at the procurement centres in Rampur, there is a reluctance to weigh wheat. In Ranipur, farmers have suffered a lot due to the closure of the portal. The date of purchase of purchase centres in Etawah was extended but the weighing at the sub-centres remained closed. Nowhere in the state did the farmers get the benefit of procurement of wheat at MSP. Under the BJP rule, farmers did not get a hemp price of cost, no paddy 1888, and wheat sold at MSP of Rs 1935 per quintal. The farmers did not get relief, on the contrary, the diesel used in its cultivation became costly, the electricity rates went up.''
He further said, "The price of the bag of manure has gone up but the quantity of manure in the sack has come down. Farmers do not even get loans easily. In fact, slow procurement of wheat from farmers has been done at the behest of the Government so that it is forced to sell its wheat to the middlemen. The authorities are ignoring the purchase in the name of quality. It has been refused to buy wheat in the name of shine and shrinkage.''
Akhilesh also said, "Sugarcane farmers have been constantly neglected under the BJP rule. More than 20,000 crore rupees are owed to sugar mill owners. This payment is not possible with the connivance of officers and mill owners. Farmers have been forced to commit suicide due to non-timely payment. Sugar mills and distilleries get loans at a nominal interest rate. The BJP is pretending to be a well-wisher of farmers by giving wrong figures but now everyone has come to know its truth. The BJP has done a lot of damage to the state and the farmers. The future is visible in darkness. Now, the people expect from the Socialists. Once the Samajwadi Party government is formed, the farmers in Uttar Pradesh will get relief and their demands will be met.''
