Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav congratulated Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and said that the society needs the truth the most today. Democracy will remain in the country only when the truth remains. In today's situation, there is the greatest need to be a Gandhian.

The SP chief said some people are spreading lies and violent attitudes in the country. The borders are turbulent, farmers are being insulted. Mahatma Gandhi awakened the country in the freedom movement. He also worked to make the farmers, the poor, the youth aware. It was only when a large number of people sacrificed their lives that the country got independence. Akhilesh Yadav further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is insulting farmers by making cartoons. The day is coming soon, the people are ready to make cartoons of the BJP.

On Saturday, the BJP made cartoons and taunted Akhilesh without naming him. The cartoon was tweeted saying 'A boy snatched his bicycle from his father. Then left the bicycle badly. Now the boy is looking forward to 'twenty-two bicycles'. What ABOUT 'twenty-two' handle who can't handle one? Twenty-two won't meet Babua! (Akhilesh) If you are not sure, ask 'Bua' (Mayawati) once.'  Akhilesh has attacked the BJP over the same cartoon.
