Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav has formally requested Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to prioritize several infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh. In a detailed letter, Yadav emphasized the need for the completion of the 408.77-kilometer Chambal Expressway, which spans from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh to Kota in Rajasthan.

Yadav’s letter also includes requests for finishing a six-lane highway connecting Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh to Lipulekh, and for linking the Bundelkhand Expressway to Satna. Additionally, he has called for extending the Purvanchal Expressway by 25 kilometers towards Bihar's Buxar-Bhagalpur region, and for connecting the Etawah to Haridwar expressway.

Earlier in the day, Yadav addressed the unrest in Bangladesh via social media, stressing that no community, whether the majority or minority, should suffer violence. He urged the Indian government to advocate strongly at the international level to protect human rights and emphasized the sensitivity of the issue concerning defense and internal security.

The political situation in Bangladesh remains volatile following Sheikh Hasina's resignation on August 5 amid rising protests. Many Bangladeshi Hindus, who have traditionally supported Hasina’s Awami League party, are fleeing to India to escape the violence resulting from clashes between anti-quota protesters and security forces.
