LUCKNOW: Rakesh Pandey, a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP - father of BSP Lok Sabha leader Ritesh Pandey - joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday alongside his supporters.

On Monday, BJP MLA Madhuri Varma and her supporters joined the SP. Brijesh Mishra Saurabh and Kanti Singh, both former BJP legislators, were among those who defected to the SP. Akhilesh welcomed the BSP and BJP leaders into his party, saying that their presence will strengthen it.

If he were to gain power, the SP leader stated again that he would supply 300 units of power for free. "The BJP has been in a state of shock since I promised free units. The BJP has done little to improve the state's power generation and transmission "he stated . The BJP, according to Akhilesh, is a master at creating false claims and lying. He went on to say, "The people have opted to remove such liars from power."

In response to the BJP's claim that the SP is a criminal organisation, Akhilesh replied, "According to the ADR report, the BJP has the highest number of leaders with criminal records. In fact, the BJP has a new washing machine that whitewashes any offenders who join the party." He went on to say that when Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister, he had criminal cases filed against him.
