Lucknow: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has made a statement for the first time on the Azam Khan controversy. He said that the entire SP stands in support of Azam Khan. We will try to bail them out. On the Samajwadi Party delegation not meeting Azam in Sitapur, Akhilesh said, "I have no information in this regard.''

On Saturday, Samajwadi Party MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav reached jail to meet Azam Khan. After the meeting, he had made a statement that Akhilesh Yadav was not trying for Azam's bail. Had Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav demonstrated, Azam would have been granted bail, but no attempt was made for it? Shivpal's statement created a stir. On Sunday, Samajwadi Party leader Ravidas Mehrotra had gone to Sitapur jail but could not meet Azam. It is being said that Azam Khan refused to meet.

Akhilesh Yadav had gone to Lucknow's Gosaiganj area on Sunday to meet the family members of woman sub-inspector Rashmi Yadav. After the meeting, he said that there is political pressure on the police department. The policemen are being used politically and with their help, the government is hiding its failures in law and order.
