Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is surely going through a rough patch in his career as the actor has delivered back-to-back flop at the box office. Akshay Kumar has seen a slew of flops in recent times and looks like the same are affecting his upcoming releases.
Directed by Amit Rai, this film is a spiritual sequel to ‘OMG – Oh My God!’, which released in 2012. Several news portals have reported that the makers have decided to skip a theatrical release of ‘OMG 2’ and the film will directly arrive on an OTT platform. Speculations are rife that Akshay’s rocky ride at the box office may have led to this decision. However, there is no official confirmation about that. ‘OMG 2’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
OMG’ faced a backlash for questioning religion and traditions, and in such polarised times with ‘Boycott Bollywood’ made to trend on social media, this might be one of the reasons to go for an OTT release. The makers have, however, not confirmed anything about the OTT release.
Bollywood’s ‘khiladi’ and superstar Akshay Kumar has had ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Ram Setu’, and ‘Selfiee’ among others getting flopped and this is speculated to be a reason behind this big decision. While in his long career, he has delivered big hits, including ‘Oh My God’, he is surely not having a great time at the box office and has also taken all the load on himself for his films performing poorly financially.
Apart from ‘OMG 2’, Akshay also has 'Soorarai Pottru' remake, 'Capsule Gill', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and 'Hera Pheri 3' in the pipeline. The actor has also signed up for Dinesh Vijan’s next action drama titled ‘Sky Force’. Akshay Kumar is also going to mark his debut in Marathi films with Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’.
