There are still many areas in India where it is very difficult to get drinking water. Even today, in many far-flung villages and towns, women have to walk for miles to get clean drinking water. To understand the sufferings of these women, actor Akshay Kumar walked up to 21 kilometres. Akshay Kumar has taken this step by becoming part of mission water Mission Paani Waterthon.

He has given an important message on the treadmill up to 21 kilometres. Akshay Kumar's photograph has been tweeted from the mission water Twitter handle in which he is looking at the trade mill. In a tweet, the caption reads, "Akshay Kumar walked 21 kilometers on the treadmill to feel the pain of women who walk 21 kms and more everyday to get safe drinking water. Join him at #MissionPaani Waterthon, a @CNNnews18 and @harpic_india initiative towards water conservation and hygiene."

Akshay Kumar says, "While marathon racers have water available every few kilometres, there is so much struggle for water in these areas. This is not liked by filmmaker Hansal Mehta. He made another tweet and wrote, "I kept fasting continuously for 7 days to understand how the poor people in our country are hungry." In another tweet, he wrote, "I kept my AC at 16 degrees overnight to understand how the farmers are facing the cold in the open with all courage. "
