Akshay Kumar  starrrer Kesari has collected Rs 95 lakh on its fourth Thursday. Its total collection, after a 22-day run, stands at Rs 147.21 crore, which makes it less than Rs 3 crore shy of gaining entry into the Rs 150 crore-club. If Kesari does manage to achieve the big feat, it would become Akshay’s first film ever to do so. Here, we are not taking into consideration his last year’s Tamil film 2.0, the Hindi version of which had gone on to collect nearly Rs 190 crore in its lifetime.

Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a tweet, noted that Kesari had few more days to add to its total until the arrival of Kalank on Wednesday. He summed up the business of the film in the same tweet. He wrote,  “#Kesari is steady... Has few more days to add to the total, till #Kalank arrives [on Wed]... [Week 3] Fri 1.65 cr, Sat 2.62 cr, Sun 3.23 cr, Mon 1.20 cr, Tue 1.02 cr, Wed 1.02 cr, Thu 95 lakhs. Total: ₹ 147.21 cr. India biz.”

Kesari stars Parineeti Chopra as the female lead opposite Akshay, is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi that saw 21 Sikhs of the British Indian contingent taking on an army of 10,000 Afghan invaders. The military combat is considered one of the bravest ever in the history of mankind. kesari is directed by Anurag Singh. It is jointly bankrolled by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment, released on March 21.
