Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a massive new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, valued at USD 34.85 billion. This airport will become the largest international airport in the world, capable of handling up to 260 million passengers.
The new airport will be five times the size of Dubai International Airport, with plans to transfer all operations from the existing airport to Al Maktoum International in the coming years. The new airport will feature 400 terminal gates and five runways, making it the home of flagship carrier Emirates and its sister low-cost airline Flydubai, along with other airline partners that connect Dubai with the rest of the world. Dubai Airports' CEO Paul Griffiths stated that this development solidifies Dubai's position as a leading aviation hub on the global stage.
Al Maktoum International Airport will utilize new aviation technologies and boast the world's largest capacity. As the airport expands, it will play a crucial role in accommodating 400 aircraft gates and supporting five parallel runways. The transformation will mark a significant milestone in Dubai's continued growth in the aviation sector.
