Chennai: The cyclone 'Nivar' was wreaking havoc in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry last week due to rising air pressure in the Bay of Bengal to a large extent. This storm also disrupted public life. Now that the containment has passed, a week after that another cyclonic storm has been warned. The name of the storm is Cyclone Burevi.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that late Tuesday night (1-2 December night), cyclonic storm 'Burevi' could pass through the Sri Lankan coast near Trincomalee. It will knock into the Gulf of Mannar and the surrounding Comorin region by the morning of 3 December. By the morning of 4 December, Cyclone Burevi will cross the south coast of Tamil Nadu, moving west-south-west. On 4 December, it can cause havoc between Kanyakumari and Pamban in the morning.
Regarding Cyclone Burevi, the Indian Meteorological Department has informed that on December 2-3, its initial speed can be 75 to 85 kmph. On December 2-3, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Whereas on December 4, it can be lightened and converted into heavy rain.
