Ranchi: Recently, the Hemant government has decided to implement a new liquor policy. After which the liquor traders and bar and restaurant operators of the state are very worried. The same held a press conference on behalf of the Jharkhand Bar and Restaurant Association in protest against the policy at the Press Club in Ranchi, in which the president of the association, Ranjan Kumar, said that the state government should not only focus on the revenue but also the employment being provided to the individuals. Once the restaurants open, hundreds of people get employment.

The same Bar and Restaurant Association said that the upcoming financial year (2022-23) is going to be very sad. The state government is going to implement the e-product policy,  in which the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited has given several suggestions to the Jharkhand government regarding product revenue promotion. In such a situation, if the state government accepts this model and implements the liquor policy, then more than 80% of the bar will be on the verge of closure.

The same report has recommended the imposition of bar licence fees on the basis of population. In such a situation, if the population of a city is one lakh, its license fee will be something else. In addition, if the population of a district is more than 3 lakh, then the bar licence fee there will be something else. At the same time, in a city with a population of more than 3 lakh, it has been recommended to increase the license fee by 3 times to 24 lakh every year. The fee for the bars present in the mall will be 31 lakh. Jharkhand Bar and Restaurant Association spokesperson Anit Singh said that the decision to prepare to pay a licence fee of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 24 or 31 lakh is unfair. The government should help to grow the business, but they are engaged in closing it down.
