The Narendra Modi government's Thinktank Policy Commission is constantly working on electric vehicles. The demand for electric vehicles is steadily picking up in view of pollution. The government has given a deadline to vehicle manufacturers by 2025, including the introduction of all vehicles below 150cc by 2025 into electric vehicles. The meeting, convened by the NITI Aayog on Friday, was attended by automakers and start-up companies that manufacture electric vehicles.

 

For your information, the NITI Aayog meeting convened by Bajaj Auto's Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj, TVS Motor's co-chairman Venu Srinivasan, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) President and CEO of Minoru Kato, SIAM. Several others were also involved, including Director-General Vishnu Mathur and ACMA Director General Winnie Mehta.The NITI Aayog aims to convert all three-wheelers into electric vehicles by 2023. By 2025, a bike or scooter with less than 150cc is to be converted into an electric vehicle. It has been made clear by the government that India was behind the electronic and semi-conductor revolution, but the electric vehicle revolution would not do so. If big companies lag behind, they'll start-up.
