Chennai: Semester exams in Tamil Nadu institutions will be held online from February 1 to February 20. Physical exams will be held for the final semester (after June). After February 20, the government will make a decision on whether or not to launch colleges "Ponmudi stated.

The state government had earlier declared that schools would be closed until January 31. Exams slated for January 19 had also been postponed by the state government. The state of Tamil Nadu has vaccinated all school students aged 15 to 18 years with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Health Minister Ma Subramanian.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu added 29,870 new coronavirus infections on Friday, bringing the total to 30,72,666 cases, with 33 more deaths bringing the total to 37,145, as the state continued to report an increase in new COVID-19 cases.

The number of patients who have recovered has risen to 28,48,163, with 21,684 people being discharged in the last 24 hours, leaving 1,87,358 active cases, according to a medical bulletin. With 7,038 new coronavirus infections, Chennai led the way, followed by Coimbatore (3,653), Chengalpet (2,250), Kanyakumari (1,248), Thiruvallur (1,016), and Salem (1,009), with the rest divided throughout different districts.
