Landlines to start in Jammu and Kashmir from today, mobile services will be restored in Kupwara-Handwara

New Delhi: After the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution giving special state status to Jammu and Kashmir, the restrictions on the internet, mobile, and landline services in the Valley will be lifted today by the government for security reasons. All landline numbers across Jammu and Kashmir will resume from Thursday. Along with this, incoming and outgoing services on mobile will also start in Kupwara and Handwara from Thursday.

It is noteworthy that from Jammu and Kashmir, the Modi government of the Center removed Section 370 on 5 August. Thereafter, landline and mobile services were suspended due to security reasons. These services have been resumed in view of the situation on behalf of the government. In order to prevent any unwanted incident, the government had imposed several restrictions in the valley, even the chief leaders of the valley were under house arrest, who are still under house arrest.

Among the leaders arrested were former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija Mufti filed a petition in the apex court, seeking to meet her mother. On Thursday, the Supreme Court, while hearing the petition of Iltija Mufti, allowed her to go to Srinagar to meet her mother Mehbooba Mufti.
