Visakhapatnam: Visakha Ukku Parikshan Poorata Committee chairman C Narasimha Rao demanded that the central government withdraw the process of appointing legal advisors for privatization of VSPs and warned that legal advisors would not be allowed to visit VSP premises. Briefing the media here on Saturday, the committee members announced that 250 workers of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) will go on a 25-hour long hunger strike from October 19, marking the 250th day of the hunger strike camp.

Committee chairman C Narasimha Rao said that the opposition to the central government's decision on privatization of VSP will continue. VSP-affiliated Sangh president J Ayodhya Ram said that all political parties of the state, except the BJP, are participating in the Ukku movement. He said that Telugu people will not allow privatization of VSP. Committee members objected to the completion of the process of appointing legal advisors and transaction advisors for 100 per cent strategic disinvestment of VSP.

Member of the committee, Minister Rajasekhar said that the state assembly and GVMC council had also unanimously passed a resolution opposing the decision of 100 percent strategic disinvestment of VSP and sent it to the Centre. D Adinarayana, Gandham Venkata Rao, Y Mastanappa and Varsala Srinivas, members of the Visakha Ukku Parikshana Porata Committee, participated in the conference.
