New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the Delhi government's order to open all schools in the capital 100 per cent from April 1, 2022. The petition had said that schools should not be opened until all school children are fully vaccinated against corona. The High Court on Tuesday turned down a PIL challenging the Delhi government's order asking schools to open 100 per cent from April 1.

A bench of acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla on Tuesday dismissed a petition that said that according to us, parents are willing to send their children to schools. The plea had sought directions from the Directorate of Education (DOI) to ensure that parents of school-going children provide an option in terms of sending their children to attend classes.

Due to the decline in corona cases in the entire country, including Delhi, and rapid vaccination, the Delhi government had last month ordered the opening of all schools in the capital with 100 per cent capacity. The Delhi government had said that the closure of schools for two consecutive years has affected the overall development of children along with studies.
