According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, during the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about the need to work fast on a number of aspects, including increasing oxygen production, increasing the pace of distribution and using transformative methods to support oxygen for health facilities.
The PM was informed that a detailed exercise is being conducted in coordination with the states to ensure adequate supply of oxygen and accordingly. The PM was informed about how the supply of oxygen to the states is continuously increasing. It also informed that 67.85 MT of liquid medical oxygen per day is being allocated to them daily from 21st April as against the present demand of 67.85 MT per day from 20 States. Further, the PM was informed that in the last few days, about 3,300 MT/mt of liquid medical oxygen is available through contribution of private and public steel plants, industries, oxygen manufacturers as well as supply of oxygen for non-essentials.Â
