Undoubtedly Jaisalmer city maintains its foray in the field of tourism. This city attracts travellers not only from different parts of the country but other parts of the world as well, the three-day Jaisalmer Desert Festival is scheduled to take place from January 29 to 31, 2018. Rajasthan Tourism and the Jaisalmer district administration have already started making preparations for the festival.
Already a popular annual festival, which attracts travellers to Jaisalmer, the programmes held at this festival this time will bear a new look and will be focussed towards attracting more travellers.
This desert festival will start with a procession from Gadisar Lake, which will end at Shaheed Poonam Singh Stadium, where the festival will be formally inaugurated.
Some Major Activity In The Fest
While the most special attractions of the desert festival this year would be a kite festival and a horse race, Kailash Chand Meena, chairman of district collector, has also asked the festival officials and tourism board to make this year’s edition of the event more tourist-centric and thus directed them to invite the participation of local renowned folk artists along with folk artists from Bollywood, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana.
Meena has also asked the organisers of the festival to present a fine mix of western Rajasthan’s folk culture and get enough participation of both the locals and the tourists.
Cultural Activities
The desert festival in Jaisalmer is one of the most awaited desert festivals in India; therefore, it is expected to offer a lot of good things for the travellers to enjoy. Also, the last day will be special as a special cultural programme will be held at Kuldhara followed by a camel race at Sam along with some more cultural programmes and fireworks in the evening.
