Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court has summoned a reply from the UP government on the conversion ordinance brought by the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh to prevent the incidents of Love Jihad. The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh will have to file a detailed reply in the court by January 4. After this, the petitioners will have to file their affidavits in the next two days.
The matter will be heard again on 7 January in the Allahabad High Court. The Division Bench headed by the Chief Justice has currently refused to impose an interim stay on the ordinance. The court said that the court will give its final verdict on the ordinance. The UP government, having argued before the court, said that such an ordinance had become extremely necessary to maintain law and order.
The division bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Piyush Agrawal heard the matter. Three PILs were filed against the ordinance of the Yogi government of UP. In the petitions, there was a demand for the repeal of the ordinance, saying it was necessary. The High Court has refused to impose an interim stay. Now the court will hear the case on 7 January.
