Allahabad High Court grants two days parole to rape accused to take oath as MP

Atul Rai, MP from BSP's Ghoshi (Mau) seat, has been approved for two days. Atul Rai is in jail for the rape case. On this matter, the High Court has said that on January 29, they will be taken to Delhi in police custody. Then he will be brought back to jail after taking oath on 31 January 2020. This order has been given by Justice Ramesh Sinha on the application of Atul Rai.

According to media reports, an FIR was lodged against Atul Rai on May 1, 2019 in Varanasi Lanka. He has been in jail since then. He was declared victorious in the Lok Sabha elections on May 19, 2019, but could not take the oath due to lack of bail. Rai's bail application has been rejected by the High Court once. The bail application granted again is under consideration. The petition was accepted by the court for the release of parole on behalf of the petitioner to take the oath of parliamentary membership. Advocate Ajay Srivastava, Dilip Kumar argued on behalf of the petitioner.

 A girl from Ballia district had lodged a case against Atul Rai in the Lanka police station of Benaras, including rape, cheating and threatening. According to the FIR, Atul Rai took the young woman into a flat in an apartment in Lanka and sexually assaulted her. The woman had also alleged against Atul Rai that he kept pressuring her to keep her mouth shut after the rape. Explain that even after being accused of rape, Atul Rai defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Harinarayan Rajbhar by one lakh 22 thousand 18 thousand votes in the Lok Sabha elections.
