Lucknow: The investigation of Uttar Pradesh gangster Munna Bajrangi murder will now be conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In the year 2018, the Allahabad High Court has issued an order for a CBI inquiry in this murder case in Baghpat Jail of West UP. The order was issued by the division bench of Judge Sudhir Aggarwal and Judge Rajiv Mishra while hearing the petition of Seema Singh, wife of Munna Bajrangi.

Munna Bajrangi, who was imprisoned in the district jail of Baghpat, was killed in the year 2018. Gangster Sunil Rathi was accused of murder in this case. After this incident, a lot of questions were raised on the law and order of the UP government. On the other hand, Jail Uday Pratap Singh of Baghpat Jail was dismissed from his job by the then Home Secretary, calling this case of murder in jail serious.

Along with Uday Pratap, Deputy Jailor Dhirendra Singh was also removed from the post. After this massacre, Munna Bajrangi's wife Seema Singh questioned the security system and accused the UP government and the jail administration of conspiring to kill. Seema had also made serious allegations against the former Jaunpur MP Dhananjay Singh in this case.
