Bassam Mawlawi, the Lebanese Interior Minister, has dismissed accusations that a terrorist incident took occurred on January 10 at Beirut Airport, causing damage to a Greek plane.

The hole found in the fuselage of an Aegean Airlines jet was caused by a collision with a tiny drawbridge just before the plane landed at Beirut airport, according to Mawlawi.

Several media claims circulated last week regarding a Greek plane being hit by bullets or being targeted by a terrorist assault while flying over Beirut Airport. Aegean Airlines, the Greek flag carrier, has suspended all flights to Beirut until the outcome of an inquiry into the source of the plane's damage.
