New Delhi: Amar Jawan Jyoti, who has been burning at India Gate in the country's capital Delhi for the past 50 years, will be merged with a flame burning at the National War Memorial today. Amar Jawan Jyoti was established in memory of indian soldiers who were martyred in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. India succeeded in this war and Bangladesh was formed. It was inaugurated by the then PM Indira Gandhi on January 26, 1972. Army officials reported this on Thursday. Army officials said that Amar Jawan Jyoti will be merged with a burning flame at the 'raashtreey yuddh smaarak' (National War Memorial) this afternoon, which is just 400 metres on the other side of India Gate.

What is the history of this 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' :-
Amar Jawan Jyoti is built at India Gate in Delhi with a rifle gun on a marble surface and a helmet of the jawan hanging on it. It has a history of 50 years. In fact, it was built in 1971 to pay homage to the soldiers who were martyred in the war with Pakistan. It was inaugurated by the then PM Indira Gandhi on Republic Day in 1972. Tell us that till 2006, it was kept on fire with LPG cylinder. That's when a pipeline was laid to supply natural gas.

This is the reason for taking the Nationals War Memorial:-
Delhi's National War Memorial is built in 40 acres near India Gate. Here, the names of 26,000,000 soldiers who were martyred in various wars and events have been written in the history of Independent India. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in February 2019. According to sources, since there was no place to pay homage to the martyred jawans so far, Amar Jawan Jyoti was kept at India Gate. Now that the National War Memorial has been built, there is no problem in taking it there.
