New Delhi: Samajwadi Party was one of the great competitors for Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party. Planning good strategy, Congress shook hands with SP, but the idea brought great failure to the alliance.

SP-Congress alliance faced a defeat even after forming an alliance, they weren't able to compete with BJP in election 2017. Taking scenario into observation politician Amar Singh said that Mulayam Singh Yadav is the soul of the party.

"Reason for the defeat is that many leaders from SP shifted to BSP and vice versa. SP's main soul is Mulayam Singh Yadav ji and Congress party failed to gauge that sentiment. People with Akhilesh were rowdy and hooligans and future will decide what will be the fate of the party," Amar Singh said in a statement.
