Srinagar: The Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir has been graced by an overwhelming number of pilgrims, with more than 300,000 visitors within the first 21 days of the annual Yatra that commenced on July 1, as per officials' report on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
The government's concerted efforts in improving infrastructure and allied services have resulted in this record-breaking milestone. The official release from the Jammu and Kashmir information and public relations department stated that the number of pilgrims visiting the Holy Cave during this period has significantly surpassed last year's count.
With an additional 13,797 Yatries paying obeisance on Friday, the total count of pilgrims stands at 307,354. A commendable collaboration of nearly thirty government departments ensures seamless facilities, making the pilgrims feel at home during their journey.
Notably, the government's dedication to boosting allied infrastructure is evident in the construction of two state-of-the-art 100-bedded hospitals exclusively for the treatment of pilgrims and other associated individuals.
Healthcare provisions are diligently maintained, with expert health teams present at every camp, attending to hundreds of yatries daily, offering medical care and advice.
Considering the increasing influx of pilgrims each passing day, the government has prioritized providing transportation facilities from Jammu to the base camps in Kashmir. Additionally, the availability of helipad services offers pilgrims a convenient option for those willing to utilize this facility.
Among the pilgrims who paid obeisance at the Holy Cave of Amarnath, there were two citizens from California, USA, a Ukrainian woman, a group of 35 Nepali citizens, and 30 citizens from Malaysia, adding to the diverse participation in this spiritual journey.
The annual Amarnath Yatra commenced on July 1 and will culminate on August 31, spanning a 62-day pilgrimage of devotion and reverence.
